Brits pocket extra ahead of half term

20 Oct 2014

With the Pound up against the majority of the major currencies compared to this time last year, it’s good news for British families planning their half-term holidays.

David Swann from Travelex comments: “The Pound’s value has sunk slightly from its inflated position a few months ago but British holidaymakers will still get more from their holiday budgets compared to this time last year. Whether heading on a short getaway, or farther flung destinations there are some considerable savings to be made.”

The following destinations are offering Brits significantly more value for their Pounds versus October half term last year:

Czech Republic Pound is up 14% against Czech Koruna, meaning Brits can pocket an extra 2,056CZK (£63) on every £500 exchanged.
South Africa Pound is up 12% against South African Rand, equating to an extra 947ZAR (£55) on every £500 exchanged.
Sweden Pound is up 12% against Swedish Krona, meaning Brits can pocket and extra 588SEK (£53) on every £500 exchanged.
Australia Pound is up 10% against Australian Dollar, meaning Brits gain an extra $77 (£43) on every £500 exchanged.
Eurozone Pound is up 7% against the Euro, meaning an extra €39 (£32) on every £500 exchanged.

Families planning to travel abroad this half term can conveniently and safely lock in the exchange rate now by purchasing a Travelex Multi-currency Cash Passport. The card can be topped up online, over the phone or in store; it is also chip and PIN protected and not connected to a bank account. For more information visit
