Pound achieves ten-year high against Russian Ruble

  • Pound at best rate against Russian Ruble for the first time in over ten years
  • Brits exchanging £500 would receive an extra 11,176 Rubles (£183) compared to November 2008

Pound Sterling is at its best rate against the Russian Ruble for the first time in more than ten years, following the drawn-out decline as Russian oil prices tumble to new lows.

Brits planning a trip to Russia will now receive an additional 11,176 Rubles (£183) on every £500 exchanged, compared to November 2008 when the Pound was last at a comparable low.

David Swann from Travelex comments: “It’s extremely rare for the Pound to achieve a high of more than ten years against any currency so this is astounding. For Brits planning a trip to Russia or for expatriates planning a trip home this positive news will make a considerable impact on their spending . In recent weeks the Pound has slumped against the majority of the other major currencies.”

Those looking for a great rate on Russian Rubles should order online from https://www.travelex.co.uk, where foreign currency is available for home delivery and in-store collection – meaning you can pick it up just before you fly out.
