Mobile App Consent Statement
1. Introduction
Travelex ("we", "our", “us” or "Travelex”) is committed to protecting your privacy, and being open and transparent about how we use the personal data that you share with us. This App Consent Statement ("Consent Statement”) sets out all the way we use, share, retain and protect your personal data when you access and use our Mobile Application (the “App”).
This Consent Statement will help you understand what you can do to manage your App consent preferences. Where any information we collect qualifies as personal data, our Privacy Notice also applies. Please review this Consent Statement and our Privacy Notice carefully.
2. How we collect data
We use SDKS (Software Development Kits) within the App. SDKs are pieces of computer code that operate in a similar way to cookies, allowing the App to run smoothly and ensuring we can provide our services and products to App users. SDKs also record the way that you use our App so that, when you revisit the App, it allows us to present tailored options based on information collected from your previous visits.
We and our partners (such as Asda and other retailers we have contracted with) may also utilise SDKs to allow us to understand user behaviour to improve App performance. SDKs may also be used to deliver more targeted in-App marketing. They can process personal identifiers like device ID and location, and track information that you enter such as username and email address.
3. Types of SDKs
SDKs can be classed in the following ways:
- Essential SDKs: These SDKs enable our App to function properly, for example, to present different currencies and exchanges rates, device profiling, processing card payments and keeping our App secure. These SDKs do not gather any information about you or how you use our services, and do not have the ability to remember how you have used our App. If we offer a branded service through one of our partners, such as a supermarket, the essential SDKs could be both ours and our partners. Because they are critical to make are App work, they can’t be turned off.
- Analytics SDKs: These optional SDKs are only installed if you consent to them. We may use these SDKs to help us analyse how our App is used and to improve its performance. For example, we use them to understand where users of our App are based or how many people use our App, how you use our App and provides us with technical reporting and analytics. As with essential SDKs, where we are offering a branded service through one of our partners, these SDKs could be both ours and our partners. If you consent, you can change your mind and withdraw your consent at any time using the SDK management tool within your in-App profile.
- Marketing SDKs: These optional SDKs are only installed if you consent to them. They collect information from your device and perform tasks that analyse behaviour and collect other information, such as demographics. These SDKs are used to provide you with personalised advertising through push notifications and within the App. These SDKs will only be deployed if you consent to receive them. If you consent, you can change your mind and withdraw your consent at any time using the SDK management tool available within your in-App profile.
4. How we use SDKs
We may use any of the above SDKs to collect information automatically when you use our App. All SDKs that you consent to stay on your device after your initial login. They remember who you are and your consent preferences so that when you visit the application again, your login and profile details will be remembered, and you will not have to register the same information. If the App is uninstalled or you chose to withdraw your consent then we will no longer use those SDK.
The optional SDKs are not strictly necessary for our App to work but will provide you with a better user experience, should you provide your consent using the consent management tool available on the App.
5. How to manage SDK consent
You can decide at any time what type of SDKs you want to accept.
If you are a registered Travel Money Card Customer, you can go to your profile>settings and configure the consent settings to your liking. If you have not registered your Travel Money Card, you may access the Consent Management Tool by clicking “help” on any of our Travelex application stages. If optional SDKs are not enabled, you may have to manually adjust some preferences every time you use our application, and some features may not work as intended.
