Key information about Polish złoty

The Polish złoty underwent a period of inflation in the 1990s, resulting in a redenomination of 10,000 to 1 in 1995. The first ever złoty banknotes were issued in 1794, prior to which gold coins were predominantly used as the country’s currency.

The Polish złoty currency code is PLN and its symbol is zł.

Although Poland has been a member of the European Union since 2004, it doesn’t yet use the euro as an official currency — though the country is planning to do so soon.
